Painting outside the box(es)

After receiving samples of CeCe Caldwell paints from Lynette at Beaches Coastal Creations, I decided to try it on a small jewelry box that I found at Goodwill.

Painted 2 coats of Destin Gulf, followed with CeCe's amazing clear wax. Stenciled with Annie Sloan Chalk paint, Paris Grey and a touch of dark wax.

I didn't get a before picture, however, thrift store jewelry boxes just happen to be one of my (many) weaknesses!

I found this old silver flatware box at Goodwill for $2.  Sorry, didn't get a before picture....

Painted using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (Antibes Green, Arles, CoCo, Duck Egg, French Linen, Graphite, Greek Blue, Louie Blue, Old Ochre, Old White, Paris Grey, Provence, Versailles) and CeCe Caldwell Paints(Destin Gulf, Hershey Brown).  Waxed with CeCe Caldwell's clear wax and ASCP dark wax.

I  love using ASCP and CeCe Caldwell Paints -  they have great colors and  are easy to use on any surface.

Thanks for stopping by!

CeCe Caldwell Paints!!!

I've been busy since my last post! Not really working on projects, trolling Goodwill or The Salvation Army, but working part-time, making jewelry! I've really enjoyed it and the fact that I'm making some money (instead of spending) is a plus, too!

Today, I received  a surprise package from Beaches Coastal Creations

All I can say is, if I didn't have to play Santa Claus for my 8 year old, I would be playing with this tomorrow!! I have been lucky enough to have tried the CeCe Caldwell wax and AMAZING may not be a strong enough word!

Thanks to Lynette Williams, SE Distributor  for sharing this great new product! I am looking forward to using and sharing in the new year!

Thanksgiving 2011

I finally (totally) finished the dining room set! Yep, nothing like a deadline (Thanksgiving) and my sweet mother-in-law, who had the chair cushions recovered , to help with the motivation.

This is the same dining set from a previous post, that has been tweeked a tad.  Painted using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Graphite,  glazed with Cabot Wood Stain - ebony, followed by a coat of CeCe Caldwell's clear wax.

A collection of acorns, hedge/horse apples from a neighbors yard and gourds grown by my mother over 12 years ago.

This bowl was a Goodwill find painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Antibes

I am thankful for my fabulous family, friends and all the small things in life that make it grand!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Sew Fun!!

This morning, while digging through organizing my craft room, I found a few sewing projects that I actually finished and a quilt made by WONDERFUL quilting friends (Amy, Patty, Sherry, Lisa & Marianne) for Dylan, aka "The Booter".

The wall hanging I made for the nursery using remnant and scrap fabric with new fabric.

This pillow was made by Marianne, the most artistic/creative person I know.  She doesn't have a blog but you can find her at http://www.creativevisions.etsy.com

Sherry & Amy made this quilt and surprised me at the shower...

The ladies also made the bumper guards, (animal print/denim) dust ruffle,  (cowboy print/denim) diaper bag and they put up the wallpaper border too!   One day I'll find a picture and post!

Some fun girlie things I made for baby gifts...

A few for the boys...

Now back to organizing....

Have a fabulous week and Thanks for stopping by!

China

I was visiting my family in East Texas last weekend and somehow found my way to the Salvation Army.  My brother and I went in the main store and looked around for a long time.  I kept thinking that for a store that large, they didn't seem to have a lot of merchandise, but I was delighted when I found several pieces of china that go with the set my grandmother gave me!

I found 2 plates $.99 each, 7 saucers & 7 bread plates for $.59 each...before the 25% off!

Now, I know this was not an expensive or rare china pattern, but one that my grandmother bought (piece by piece) through the local grocery store as a special each week.  She gave them to me as a wedding gift (almost 25 years ago)  and I have kept them boxed up, in the attic.  In the
beginning, I just didn't have a place for them, then I didn't want to use them, afraid to break one.

Yesterday, I pulled the box out of the attic and unwrapped all the dishes.  I need to find a few of the serving pieces, but I will be serving Thanksgiving and Christmas meals using them this year, in honor of my sweet grandmother, Bertie Bea!

p.s. - After leaving the main store, we realized it was the bi-annual sale, which was located in several buildings behind the main store...had I known that, I would have missed finding the china pieces!

Have a blessed week and Thanks for stopping by!

Garage Sale Save!

I LOVE finding small tables to play practice with different paints/techniques... this little one was perfect!

I found it at a neighborhood garage sale for $5! It was all wood except for the middle area of the top, which was leather? Not sure what it was, but it was NOT pretty.

To start  I used  a dark brown, matte finish Benjamin Moore (OOPS) paint,  followed by ASCP,  Old White, clear & dark wax.

One area of the top was splotchy so I ended up stenciling the top using ASCP Graphite paint with a Martha Stewart stencil.

Not too bad for my first stencil attempt...now on to my next project!

Have a great week and Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. I love comments & followers - totally makes my day!
